Christopher Wisniewski is a Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Outcome Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy. Within the didactic curriculum, Chris educates students on utilizing the systematic approach to drug information, conducting effective literature searches, developing responses to drug information requests, critically evaluating medical literature in the application of patient care, and practicing evidence-based medicine. He also practices as a drug information specialist at the MUSC Drug Information Center, precepting students and first-year residents in the experiential setting. In both the didactic and experiential setting, Chris is a proponent of evidence-based teaching and learning, consistently working to improve his learners’ excitement for his professional passion and their learning outcomes through proven techniques like flipped classrooms and active-learning techniques. Chris uses a scholarly approach to teaching, reviewing literature prior to implementing any changes to ensure that adopted methods have been studied and proven effective. Recently, Chris has explored adopting gamification to increase student engagement with pre-class content in flipped classroom environments. Using games to enhance active learning in the classroom and evaluating the effect on student learning is of interest to Chris as well. Finally, Chris considers himself a raconteur and enjoys the opportunity to share his experiences and personal anecdotes to make education more fun.
