Justine S. Gortney, Pharm.D., BCPS is currently the Director of Assessment and Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Wayne State University (WSU). At WSU, she has been involved in curriculum development and assessment at a program and University level and was recognized for Excellence in Assessment at the University for her work with the University Assessment Council. She has lead several major assessment initiatives at her institution related to ExamSoft implementation, assessment of student’s personal and professional development, development of assessment plans for the graduate programs of the Pharmaceutical Sciences and PharmD programs for Higher Learning Commission reporting, and implementing a third year, Pharm.D. clinical capstone course. She is also on the team of faculty founders of the Community Homeless Interprofessional Program (CHIP), an interprofessional student run free clinic collaborating with other health professions and local church in Detroit. Dr. Gortney has been involved in the AACP Assessment SIG for the past 9 years and has worked within multiple research committees and a task force focused on use of PCOA (2015-2018 resulting in 4 publications) and workforce (in progress). She has also served on the Assessment SIG Communications and Programming Committees. Lastly, she was recently elected to be the Secretary of Knowledge Management for the Assessment SIG 2021-2023.
